Not too many things in life are guaranteed. Special sales can disappoint. New cars may break and need repair. That new computer may not even start up when you take it out of the box. You’ve heard people talk about a “sure thing” in regards to horse races and that does not always work out.
One thing is certain though, God loves us. Because of this love, all the other things that God has shared with us in His Word are a certainty. For example, He has promised us eternal life if we believe in His Son, Jesus Christ (John 3:16). Look at the following and see how Paul put it in his letter to the church at
16So the promise is received by faith. It is given as a free gift. And we are all certain to receive it, whether or not we live according to the law of Moses, if we have faith like Abraham’s. For Abraham is the father of all who believe.
1Therefore, since we have been made right in God’s sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us. Romans 4:16, 5:1 (NLT)
If you want a “sure thing,” trust in God. Look at His Word and see what other promises and certainties that you can count on.
